Artist Talk: Althea Thauberger
The Power Plant is pleased to present an artist’s talk with Althea Thauberger on Wednesday, 12 December at 7 PM in the Studio Theatre at Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay West. Tickets are $12, and FREE for all Members of The Power Plant.
Althea Thauberger (born 1970) will speak about her artistic practice in conjunction with her solo project Marat Sade Bohnice at The Power Plant, opening 14 December 2012. Thauberger is an artist based in Vancouver. Driven by her interest in collaboration, her internationally produced and exhibited work typically involves interactions with well-defined groups of people and communities. The final works often result in performances, films, videos, and photographs that record her collaborations. In so doing, Thauberger offers striking documents that engage her viewers and provide provocative reflections on social, political and institutional power relations. Thauberger’s work has been presented most recently at the Liverpool Biennial (2012); 17th Biennale of Sydney (2010); National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa (2009); and The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh (2009). She was a 2011 finalist for the Grange Prize and her work is represented by Susan Hobbs Gallery, Toronto.
