Living traditions occupy a prominent place in the Indian social system. Any living tradition has a natural flow. There can be no doubt about the fact that traditional art forms reflect the ideals of the society, its determination to survive, its ethos, emotions, fellow-feelings, and so on. Drama in itself is a complete form of arts. It includes in its framework acting, dialogue, poetry, music, etc. This photograph is taken during a play of "Dashavtar drama. 'Dashavtar' is the most developed theatre form of the Konkan and Goa regions of india. A traditional religious play based on the concept of ten rebirths of Lord Vishnu in Hindu-mythology. Generally these plays are performed by the local artists. Dance ritual dramas are held in most of the temples during festive occasions. Dashavatar has a tradition of about 300 years. the people of village demands a wish in front of god and after the complition of that particular wish the hang one petromax light rights on the top as shown in photograph.
