Blue Rain Gallery welcomes the month of May with a three man show that is sure to please.  Tony Abeyta will display a myriad of large and small new works in charcoal and ink, combined with oil on canvas that dwell on flowers and botanical forms.  Abeyta’s new work is passionate and emboldened by the honesty of black and white.  One might not immediately recognize this work as “traditional Tony Abeyta”, but one should get to know it!

Showing alongside Abeyta at Blue Rain Gallery’s first Friday ensemble, Wyandott potter Richard Zane Smith will present exciting new works in clay.  Smith’s glorious creations are constructed with delicate coils informed by the pottery of the ancient Anasazi.  Smith uses subtle clay slips and found objects to further enhance his graceful forms.  We are expecting roughly ten new pieces for the show on Friday; there is bound to be one to suit your collection.

Young Gabriel Abeyta is the new, hip, talent on the block at Blue Rain’s May 1st opening; however, he knows the protocol thanks to dad.  Gabriel will display a series of short poetic films and still photographs that are as diverse in content as commentary on genetic engineering of food to the garbage that one finds on television.  He draws on his Navajo and Taos Pueblo heritage to create an esthetic sensibility that is entirely his own.  Please join us to see what all the buzz is really about!
