/*San Francisco, CA. (January 2013)*/-- After two decades of inviting artists to create monotypes in its San Francisco studio, Aurobora is changing things up as it enters its 20th year. Following its own motto—“without experimentation, there is no discovery; and without discovery there is no re-generation”—Aurobora launches a new traveling series of gallery projects by introducing its extensive art archive to select communities.

Beginning in downtown Los Altos, California (359 State Street January-March 2013), Aurobora is exhibiting works on paper by various artists in an exquisitely designed gallery space. “This is a wonderful way for Aurobora to engage and be part of a local community”, says Jordan Felling, Aurobora Gallery Director. “This adventure will allow new clients and interested individuals an opportunity to view contemporary art and begin a dialogue. In the process, Aurobora can help reconfigure what locals expect from their own community.”

Since 1993, artists of national and international stature have been invited by Aurobora to explore new trajectories in their own visual vocabularies and to push the boundaries of the monotype medium. Artist residencies will take a hiatus this year as Aurobora focuses on showcasing the artists, who through their generous spirit embraced experimentation and in doing so established Aurobora as a place for both artistic discovery and possibility. It is the product of these artists’s efforts that Aurobora will continue to showcase in various gallery venues throughout 2013 as it celebrates both the beginning of its second decade and overarching philosophy -- experiment- discover- regenerate.

Aurobora Press is an invitational fine art press located in San Francisco dedicated to the monotype medium.

We publish unique works on paper by artists of regional, national and international reputations and exhibit at our gallery regularly changing shows of works produced at Aurobora.

Each year Aurobora Press invites select artists to work at our studio. Because Aurobora encourages artists to consider the press as a creative tool rather than an instrument of reproduction, the works on paper published by Aurobora consistently explore the boundaries of the print medium.

Artists often arrive at Aurobora with virtually no background in printmaking and therefore few preconceptions as to the limitations of working with the intaglio press. The resulting work often yields new directions within an artist's oeuvre that are subsequently integrated into the artist's primary medium.
