Cinema Place Gallery
Hayward, CA 94541
About HAC: The purpose of the Hayward Arts Council (HAC) is to stimulate community interest in the Arts. The Council's goal is to expand the image of Hayward as a cultural center. HAC works to coordinate and strengthen the existing arts organizations and to facilitate joint programs which will enhance the artistic and cultural environment in the City of Hayward, providing a network of communication between local artists and the community as a whole. Currently, HAC has five venues: the John O'Lague Galleria at Hayward City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street, Cinema Place Gallery at the top of B Street, the Hayward Senior Center adjacent to the Japanese Gardens and the Douglas Morrison Theatre, and the home gallery on Foothill Boulevard at the Hayward Area Historical Society Center for History and Culture.
About Cinema Place Gallery: Since January 2011, Cinema Place Gallery has presented exhibits, art demonstrations, musical presentations, and sales opportunities in downtown Hayward thanks to the generosity of Cinema Place developers and owners, the City of Hayward, downtown merchants, the Hayward Arts Council, our artists and the Hayward community. The gallery features Hayward area artists and programs, as well as introduces new artists and/or programs from further afield. Almost from the beginning, we have shared space with the Photo Phantom Group, established photographers, who bring another element of art into the space on a regular basis and who share sitting duties and expenses with the gallery. The gallery does not take consignment work, do single artist shows, group exhibits or retrospectives.
