Southern Exposure’s Juried Public Art/Urban Interventions Day presents work by 12 artists using the Mission District as a platform for creativity and expression according to this year’s theme Passive/Aggressive. Happening on Saturday December 5th, 11 am – 5 pm, in the area surrounding Southern Exposure’s new 20th Street location, the event will feature works selected by this year’s juror Jeannene Przyblyski.
Selected artists are Steven Barich, David Buuck, Arianna Davalos, Christian L. Frock presents Invisible Venue, Packard Jennings, Southern Exposure's Youth Advisory Board, Chris Treggiari and Jessica Watson, Linda Trunzo, Heather Van Winckle, Victoria Wagner, and Jackson Wang.
Each year, Southern Exposure invites artists to submit work in response to a theme that encourages as broad a range of artistic interpretation as possible. This year’s theme, Passive/Aggressive, was chosen in response to our current cultural, economic and political climate and reflects on how decisions are made when faced with extreme challenges. We invited artists to submit work that responds to this idea in some way, shape or form.
Please check http://soex.org/Event/215.html for project descriptions and a map locating the projects.
SoEx’s Passive/Aggressive 2009 Juried Public Art/Urban Interventions Day is presented in conjunction with the 2009 Juried Film/Video Screening presented on Sunday, December 6, 5 pm at Artists Television Access.
