DESCRIPTION

Eirik Johnson's color photographs chronicle his study of Sawdust Mountain, a once idyllic patch of the Pacific Northwest now in decline after a century of human enroachment.  The stoy is a familiar one of early settlers attracted to the sublime beauty and abundant natural resources only to ultimately deplete the natural resources that was the original lure.  The American myth of taming the wilderness is replaced by its modern day counterpoint of rural poverty.
