DESCRIPTION

Being laced into a corset can be an exquisitely sensual experience, as you are pulled gradually in from the top and bottom towards the middle. The sensation of being embraced tighter and tighter is empowering. Join us while we honor the corset through classic, modern and alternative depictions of an exquisite garment that has been around for hundreds of years.

'Cinch: The Art of Corsetry' engages the artist in sculpture, bronze, photography and mixed media to celebrate one of history's sexiest traditions. Wearable art corsets will be created from untraditional materials; books for our literary scholars, and metal for those who prefer it a bit more raw. We invite you to celebrate each of these artists' interpretation of corsetry: Fakir Musafar, Ehren Reed, Suzanne Forbes, Catherine Murty and Angela Fortain.

Live corset models and more in Flickr sets from the opening, Feb 7, 09: Tara Spelty, Tensegrity Dan and Suzanne Forbes
