A Chance to Play
Oakland residents Luz Marina Ruiz and Debra Koppman will be exhibiting new installations, sculptures, drawings, prints, and artists’ books. The centerpiece of the exhibition is an 8’ square hanging collaborative installation entitled Migration, made of hand-printed collagraphs turned into flying paper pop-up sculpture.
Both artists graduated from UC Berkeley, and are long-time art educators. They have shared a friendship and an aesthetic for close to 30 years; this exhibit marks the first time they have created artwork which melds their working processes, aesthetics, and use of materials.
