DESCRIPTION

Matei Bejenaru is an artist and curator, and the initiator of the Periferic Biennial in Romania. He is engaged in analyzing the effects of globalization in post-Communist countries. In 2003, for the second Tirana Biennial, he installed a water post in the city center offering free water to local Albanian inhabitants. In 2005 he published in Idea Magazine (and later exhibited) a traveling guide for Romanian illegal workers. And in 2007 he exhibited at Tate Modern in London a project involving the Romanian community in the U.K. Since 2010 he has been developing Songs for a Better Future, a series of choral performances addressing perceptions of the future.
