The ICA's Annual Art Exhibition and Auction at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art provides a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts and collectors to view and purchase artwork by the Bay Area’s rising stars and celebrated artists whose work reflects the scope of the region’s vibrant and eclectic styles and interests.  Silent and Live Auction goers can bid on a wide range of work including paintings, photography, works on paper, mixed media and installation pieces, and sculpture. All auction proceeds support the ICA’s innovative exhibitions and educational programming.

The Auction Exhibition runs from September 24th to October 22nd. An Artist Reception and Silent Auction will be held on Saturday, October 8th from 5pm to 7pm. This popular and lively event features an eclectic mix of works in a variety of mediums that will excite novice and long-time art collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The ICA’s Live Auction gala has long been one of the Bay Area's most anticipated cultural events of the year.  The Live Auction will be held on Saturday, October 22nd.  Complimentary champagne, wine, savory hors d’oeuvres and desserts by the area’s finest restaurants and wineries, including Lange Twins Vineyards, will be served.  Admission to the Live Auction – always a sell-out event -- is reserved for ticket holders.

This year, the ICA is taking advantage of mobile technologies to offer an even more engaging and interactive auction experience both in and out of the gallery. A free self-guided cell phone audio tour of the auction gallery includes recordings by the exhibiting artists,  giving visitors more insight into the works on view.

Smartphone users have access to the auction galleries anytime through a mobile auction website that provides event and ticket information, images of the artwork, and audio recordings by the artist.  Smartphone users can connect to the mobile site by scanning a QR code through a bar code reader on their phones or through opt-in text message alerts.
