The Fahey/Klein Gallery is excited to announce a rare opportunity to see into the vaults of our most celebrated collectors in the new exhibition, From Collectors’ Archives. Reaching into the collections of several prominent connoisseurs of photography, this exhibition features several of the most impressive examples of the finest photography over the last half century. Selected works by Diane Arbus, Peter Beard, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Frantisek Drtikol, Horst P. Horst, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, and Herb Ritts, among others, offer an exquisite look into the tastes and character of collecting by the discerning eyes of those who love photography as an artistic medium.

From Collectors’ Archives reintroduces several pieces that are rarely shown and even less commonly available for acquisition. Herb Ritts’s legendary 1989 portrait of his five supermodels, Stephanie, Cindy, Christy, Tatjana, Naomi, still shimmers with the aura of the unparalleled beauty of that era. Several works by Diane Arbus, including the piqued commentary of Lady Bartender at Home with a Souvenir Dog and an unusually charming snapshot of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in A Castle in Disneyland, show the breadth of the artist’s charisma and allure. Striking nudes from Drtikol, Bravo, Newton, and Bernhard show us just how artistic the human form can be rendered in silver gelatin. The depth and variety of the collector’s taste is as unpredictable as it is beautiful, and this rare look into their extraordinary collections represents an unusual and valuable opportunity for aesthetes, voyeurs, and collectors alike.

The full list of artists included in the show can be found at our website:

In the small room, Fahey/Klein Gallery will be featuring an exhibition of work by Lena Herzog, Panoramas. Featuring her panoramic images, the exhibit offers a selection of photographs from her collections Below Zero, Light Matter, and Rock Gardens. This show takes the viewer into the mystery of the frame, the consummation of the scene, and the transcendence of a world, her world, that defies all expectations and experience.
