Alternative Mold Making and Casting Class at SFAI's A.C.E. program
Enroll in an Alternative Mold Making and Casting Class this Spring through San Francisco Art Institute's Adult Continuing Education program! Class runs Thursdays, February 2 - April 26, 2012, 7:30 - 10:30 pm.
There is a world of possibilities when it comes to mold making and casting—but there are also a fair number of limitations, and a lot of steps to follow. In this course, we will push against these limitations through an exploration of alternative techniques, using materials including concrete, plastic sheeting and bags, clay, plaster, insulation foam, and silicone. We will learn specific techniques as a class, and then adapt projects to fit with each student’s individual concepts and aesthetic ideas. Each project will take a minimum of two class sessions, allowing time for technical instruction and individual exploration. Group critiques at the end of each project will allow students to share their work and receive valuable feedback. No prerequisite.
