MACLA: Open call for Latino Bay Area Artists

MACLA
MACLA (Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana)  is now accepting Bay Area Latino artist proposals for its 2014 Community Supported Arts (CSA) Program.

Deadline: Monday, March 3, 2014, 5:00 p.m.
Submit to: Vanessa Nava, Vanessa@maclaarte.org
Artist notification: March 31, 2014

MACLA’s CSA program supports artists by helping them to create and distribute their artwork through new channels. Concurrently, this program gives first-time and experienced art collectors the opportunity to own locally made, limited-edition art.

Through an open call and a selection process a selection of artists are chosen to create 50 “shares” for the CSA program. A typical share consists of a work of art/object of artistic production, usually a multiple or limited edition. The selected artists receive a stipend of $1,000, great connections to local collectors, and promotional support. Interested collectors purchase a share (similar to a membership subscription) for $350 and in return receive two “farm boxes” of three locally produced artworks twice a year. The “farm boxes” are picked up at evening events that feature music, food and entertainment.
