Barbara Bartos is a San Francisco-based, Romanian-born artist. She holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from the University of Art and Design in Cluj, Romania.
Barbara’s work ranges from installation, environmental intervention, and sound to drawing and printmaking. Her work has been exhibited in international galleries and museums including Southern Exposure, San Francisco; GenArt, San Francisco; Palazzo Correr, Venice, Italy; Caixa-Ourense, Spain; Modern Art Gallery, Miskolc, Hungary; National Art Museum, Cluj, Romania; and the International Museum of Children’s Art, Oslo.
Barbara has been the recipient of many grants and awards, including a Fulbright Fellowship for study in the United States. Her work has won prizes in Hungary, Belgium, Norway, and Romania and appeared in Aesthetica Magazine, UK; ARTnews Extra, US; Romanian Cultural Institute Annual, Venice, Italy; and San Francisco Weekly. She has been awarded artist’s residencies in the United States, France, Italy, Hungary, and Romania.
