West Coast Art Assemblage Show,
As the art form of assemblage continues to captivate viewers and allure perspective designers, the discussion of art and meaning is alive and well under this seemingly random collection of parts and objects.
During the month of May, seven influential artists, both established and newly discovered, will be represented at Ukiah’s innovative and alluring Beat Gallery on Perkins Street.
This collection of recent works by Chris Bales, Spencer Brewer, Hans Bruhner, Leslie Caldera, Victoria Roberts, Susan Spencer, and Michael Wilson, promises lively discussion of the process, struggles and emotions surrounding the enigmatic definition of this relatively new art form that is exploding in our 21st century art market.
Assemblage art is a form of structural sculpture that incorporates found and junk objects requiring the aesthetic disciplines of three dimensional abstract art arrived at largely through trial and error cumulating in a harmony of design and purpose. It is often accompanied by the visual context of archetypal forms and cultural iconography.
A lively compilation of recent works by these artists presents a rare chance to view a rich display of art and discuss the definitions of current assemblage and how this unique form fits into our contemporary art scene.
The West Coast Assemblage Show runs the month of May at The Beat Art Gallery, 109 West Perkins Street, Ukiah, Ca, 95482.
