Sutton Lane opened in London in May 2003. Since 2005 the gallery has developed a parallel programme of exhibitions in Paris and since March 2007 it has established a permanent space at 6 rue de Braque.

Over the past five years one of the gallery’s focuses has been to represent a group of artists whose mutual interest is the investigation and questioning of the art practice.

Once a year Sutton Lane organises an exhibition which serves as critical reference for the contemporary programme of the gallery and which informs the practice of its artists from a historical point of view:

Pistoletto / Franz West (Jan 2004); In America: William Eggleston, Roe Ethridge, Stephen Shore, Joel Sternfield, James Welling (March 2004); Martin Barré (Sept 2005); Michael Krebber (May 2006): Marcel Broodthaers (Oct 2008)

For the past four years Sutton Lane has participated in Frieze Art Fair and the Armory Show and since 2008 it has taken part in Art Miami Basel.
