Create your own version of Rosas danst Rosas!
A lot of amusing and original versions of the famous chair scene are still circulating on the net, from Japanese teenagers who delve into the material to schoolgirls dancing to Madonna’s Like a Virgin. The icon of contemporary dance has invaded the domain of pop culture, and so the circle is complete: for this choreography the dancers were inspired by everyday life. This gave Anne Teresa the idea to give back the dance material and to make it public property, as it were.
In Re:Rosas our aim is to bring contemporary dance to a wide audience and stimulate young people to start dancing themselves, to give them an insight into the finer points of the material, not to mention the pleasure of puzzling over choreographic structures.
Everyone’s dancing Rosas
Anyone can upload their YouTube film to www.rosasdanstrosas.be and join the creative souls who have already set to work with this classic. During the summer months you can expect to see some surprising films. The most evocative films will be screened to accompany the revival of Rosas danst Rosas in Kaaitheater on 8, 9, 10 and 12 October. At that time we will look back at Re:Rosas, and hope that the performance that started it all thirty years ago will continue to inspire people all over the world.
