  • The “We the People” Art Collection created by Bettina Werner was inspired by the idea of the peoples’s self-governments which is the opening first three words of the Constitution.

    The Constitution says:“We the people of the United States in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”

    “We the People” are the first 3 words of our Constitution which are all about freedom for the people:
    freedom of speech, of expression, of assembly, of the press, religious freedom, free enterprise, and freedom of government oppression. These are only some of the precious liberties which create America’s free world, celebrated the declaration of Independence on the 4th of July 1776 written by Thomas Jefferson.

    Internationally acclaimed artist Bettina Werner, The Salt Queen, born in Milan, Italy in 1965, became an American citizen in 2010. A pilgrim who came to the New World alone in 1989, Bettina Werner, was the first of her family to cross the seas from the Old Continent . She also is a pioneer who in the history of art, invented the first use of colorized salt crystals as an art medium.

    Bettina Werner created the “We The People” Art Collection showing it for the first time at her recent 25 Year Retrospective, at 7 World Trade Center on the 49th floor, in a 40,000 square foot pristine space, immediately overlooking “ground zero”. It represented Bettina Werner’s crowning achievement in her career with a spectacular panoramic view of the New York City skyline.

    One of the unique salt crystal paintings is clearly inspired by the red, white and blue gigantic US flag, spanning the 6 huge columns of the New York Stock Exchange viewed across the street from above her stunning loft on the 21st floor.
    The other, ”We the People” blue salt crystal painting is inspired by the peaceful blue sky coloring the great blue oceans that compose America’s majestic East/West shorelines.

    Bettina Werner’s innovative salt artworks have been extensively exhibited in museums and galleries in Europe, Russia and the USA including the Whitney Museum and the Puskin Museum.

    In the year 2002, she established The Salt Queen Foundation, a non profit educational institution. Its goals include the celebration of artists whose free imagination is uniquely expressed through the use of innovative techniques and unusual materials.
