As someone interested in Art History in the most specific, nerdy, quasi-obsessive way, I often think about what it must have been like to view those oh-so-quintessential exhibitions that have inquisitive Art Historians dreaming of tenure: the first Salon de Refusés, the Nazi Entartete Kunst exhibition, Robert Morris at the Green Gallery etc. But me, I would have loved to see Claes Oldenburg’s The Store of 1961, with its tacky paintedness, its focus on uselessness, and its commentary on...
