Founded in 2008 in New York City’s Chelsea Arts District, Joshua Liner Gallery presents an exciting roster of established and emerging artists from North America, Asia, and Europe.
These fresh voices engage with the issues of today—globalism, new technology, politics, contemporary urban society, the environment—yet in dynamic dialogue with the histories and aesthetics of the past. In an eclectic range of mediums and approaches, gallery artists reveal influences as disparate as the urban street, Asian pop culture, folk art, music and sound theory, the Old Masters, advertising, and digital design. The work of gallery artists is stylistically diverse, featuring figurative realism, surrealist and futurist fantasy, and geometric abstraction, among other offerings.
Joshua Liner Gallery represents the leading edge of contemporary art practices—new media, mixed-media sculpture, and collective models of production—as well as a focused program of contemporary easel painting. Above all, gallery artists reflect the cultural crosscurrents and decentralized reality of artmaking today.
With two discrete exhibition areas under one roof, Joshua Liner Gallery presents artists in solo and paired exhibitions, with additional group exhibitions in winter and summer. Opening receptions are held on Thursday evenings at the gallery’s West 28th Street location. Along with its annual program of exhibitions, the gallery also participates in the SCOPE and PULSE art fairs in New York, Miami and Basel.
