Utter Madness

For  – the final project at Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin – the artist John Bock has developed a masterful meta-structure within which he installs works by 63 artists. An eleven-meter-tall walk-in steel construction creates a range of spatial situations over four levels, linking the individual works into a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk, or total artwork. Like a Specter

by Jesi Khadivi
The site specificity of the Allora + Calzadilla exhibition at Temporäre Kunsthalle is indeed one of its strongest suits. The blue and white Lego block of a building is perched on edge of the Spree where the socialist architectural marvel Palast der Republik once stood. Built on the site of the Berliner Stadtschloss which was badly damaged in World War II and demolished by the GDR despite fervent protests by West Germans, Palast der Republik housed the East German Parliament as well as myriad... You Can't Build Clouds

by E-Slant Team
“You can’t build clouds. And that’s why the future you dream of never comes.”With his project for the Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin´s outer façade, Austrian artist Gerwald Rockenschaub counters this Ludwig Wittgenstein quote. The two abstract white clouds on a bright blue background are pixelated, cubic formations that refer to the design's digital origin and remind us, in their universal legibility, of computer icons. At the historically and politically charged Schlossplatz, and in an urban... [more]
