Laurie Lipton at Ace

Laurie Lipton’s “L.A. Sous-Real” at Ace Gallery displays a technical talent for transforming a personal reaction into incredibly detailed drawings. The exhibition was inspired by the “peculiar position of being a foreigner in [her] own country”, says Lipton. hit or miss

I've seen a few shows here - and it's been hit or miss... some of the shows have been a bit 'sterile' for my taste. Some impressive work though at times. Couldn't seem to figure out when they were open on our last trip though! [more]

A Look at Lauren Bon

Walking through this sprawling, highly theatrical exhibition, what struck me most was not its aesthetic or formal merits—though there was certainly much to ponder on these points—but rather its poised reconciliation of two very different milieus of art production in Los Angeles.
