DESCRIPTION

WESTWOOD GALLERY NYC focuses on a contemporary program of artists, including rediscovered artist estates, current artist projects, secondary market and photography, and will present a series of exhibitions dedicated to artists in the Bowery Arts District, past and present. Gallery owners, James Cavello and Margarite Almeida have created hundreds of exhibitions worldwide and assisted with private and public collections. Their expertise in the fine arts developed from individual acquisitions to site specific projects, art multi-media, branding, publications, estate management and films.

The gallery program encompasses traveling museum exhibitions, art talks, private and corporate art consultation, gallery events, as well as non-profit collaborations. The Plus Projects division exclusively represents estates of New York art scene artists from the 1950’s and 60's through museum-quality exhibitions and educational programs. The estates include James Juthstrom (1925-2007), Will Insley (1929-2011), Lazhar Mansouri (1935-1985), Constantin Antonovici (1911-2002), Roy Schatt (1909-2002), Jacques Lowe (1930-2001). Gallery artists are represented in the permanent collections of MOMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, GuggenheimMuseum, Smithsonian, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, PS1, WalkerArtCenter, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and other national and international institutions.

Museums / curatorial collaborations: The gallery has created several traveling exhibitions and provided or sold artwork to museums. The list of museums includes Art Museum of the Americas (WashingtonDC), Los Angeles County Museum of Art, MOMA, Ft Lauderdale Museum of Fine Art, BostonUniversityArtGallery, The Annenberg Space for Photography (Los Angeles, CA), ErieMuseum (Erie, PA).
