DESCRIPTION

Congratulations to Joe Brubaker on his collaborative exhibition, “Exquisite Garden,” at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. This exhibit features 15 artists and artisans working with found materials. It opens December 10th and runs through February 21st.

Using a variety of mediums, the exhibit reflects on themes of loss and redemption, focusing primarily upon the response to homelessness in America, from the New Deal to the Present.

Brubaker’s work fits perfectly in this theme. Made of society’s cast offs, the artist’s characters exude a resiliency and dignity reflecting the power of the human spirit.

A portion of proceeds from the show will benefit charities who serve the homeless in the San Joaquin Valley. If you’re in the area, please enjoy Joe’s work at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.
