"Don't Blow It/A Rising Tide"
Parts of Old Town Pasadena will be “flooded” with ocean water for an environmentally-themed video art installation projected onto storefront windows and glass doors just steps away from the Rose Parade route.
The high-definition, multi-channel videos will be projected every night from sunset to 1 a.m. before, during and after the Rose Parade, which is expected to draw some one million visitors to Pasadena.
The public video-art project makes the defunct Gordon Biersch brewery look as if climate change has flooded it, top to bottom, with sloshing blue water and bobbing fish. The project’s title, “Don’t Blow It/A Rising Tide,” was inspired by the quote, “don’t blow it. A good planet is hard to find.”
