Philosophy of Time Travel
A group project based on the Brancusi sculpture, Endless Column. The artists have re-invented the sculpture and pushed it beyond it's original boundaries. The inspiration for the show comes from a common interest in the 2001 cult movie, Donnie Darko and a book in the film called The Philosophy of Time Travel. That title prompted the artists to examine how history bends back on itself. The results were to re-imagine this classic sculpture in a new era and under new circumstances, tilting the work to shatter the floor and ceiling of the museum. A DVD and full-color catalogue with approximately 112 pages and three scholarly essays by Lowery Stokes Sims, Hilton Als and Christine Y. Kim will be available in the Museum Store.
