Marvelli Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition Chat for the Now, featuring works by Aaron Bobrow, Jesse Cohen, Jacob Kassay, Sam Moyer, Jo Nigoghossian, and Eric Palgon. The show is curated by Matthew Moravec and Kyle Thurman.

Chat for the Now brings together six emerging artists living and working in New York City. Personal experience, whether through inspiration or the actual process of making, is integral for each artist. Upon visiting the artists' studios, we found the most exciting work sprawled out with materials abundant, laptops stored safely in the corner.

The work in Chat for the Now shows some of the artists' virtuosity and others' deliberate refusal of traditional skills. The artists investigate forms of abstraction in order to make connections to the world with which they are engaged and to provide the viewer with grounds of exploration. Each piece reveals a specific decision-making process - structures and compositions being evidence of experimentation. During a time when many younger artists turn to the Internet and technology as a means of production, these six artists explore contemporary issues through their own personal filter by actually creating paintings/sculptures/objects. Chat for the Now is not afraid to show some soul.
