COMA alternative space is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by artist Ryan Graeff.

In 2005 Ryan Graeff created Restitution Press.  Since then he has produced some of the most iconic underground Los Angeles art this decade. Pasting the streets from Los Angeles to New York Ryan Graeff has created a unique and expressive way to communicate his messages.  With his studio located in downtown Los Angeles Graeff has access to all parts of the city for his work.  Inspired by American Painters such as the Clayton Brothers, Jackson Pollock, and Andy Warhol, Graeff uses action painting techniques brilliant color broad confident brush strokes and screen printing to achieve grown breaking style unique and originality.  The Restitution Press is Ryan Graeff's design and zine producing company and to this date has produced 15 volumes.  Graeff has had many successful gallery shows at local galleries such as Pasadena's Mendenhall/Sobeski gallery with R. Crumb. With many people imitating Graeff's moves he has stayed beyond the cutting edge of fine art and remains a pure innovative artist.  You can see some of his work at and throughout the greater Los Angeles area.  His next project will be a three part book about South, West, and East LA. All artwork, prints, zines, and apparel prints are here for only a limited amount of time and will be available at the opening.

There will also be a music collaboration from Y-Phase, Big Bruther, DJ Disintegrate and Willem Broad. These groups will join together to bring outstanding mixes, live instrument, and homegrown electronic music to the masses.  Merging their experiences and styles from opposite coasts and other countries, Big Bruther is all about giving you endless reasons to dance and appreciate the evolution of hybrid electronic music genres.  When you see Big Bruther you can expect to hear remixes, house classics, funky minimalist rarities, break beats, and down tempo treasures, with a soulful presentation.
