DESCRIPTION

Artist Ranu Mukherjee explores the ideas and research that inform Extracted: A Trilogy by
Ranu Mukherjee, currently on view at the museum. In a wide-ranging conversation with
Marc Mayer, senior educator of contemporary art, she will discuss her varied inspirations:
the California Gold Rush, the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, Chinese mythology,
speculative fiction and speculative economies. Mukherjee will also offer insight into the
exhibition’s evolution, including new material added on Jan. 26, as well as what’s in store
for the third and final iteration, which opens on May 3.
