DESCRIPTION

“Hot Seven: The Chicago Brown” examines the notion of community and what it means to thrive with regard to issues and perspectives unique to diasporic Latino populations in Chicago. Re-examining social responsibility and cultural agency, this exhibition will survey a conceptual and visceral people’s history with power structures, navigating dominant narratives and representation, and possibilities for resistance. Their work highlights perspectives of what it means to be alive in a time/space of intersecting histories, geographies, and subjectivities providing a local homegrown narrative. Featuring Orlando Camacho, Ricardo Gamboa in collaboration with Andrew Gonzalez, Amanda Gutiérrez, Josué Pellot, Alvaro Ramirez, Oli Rodriguez, and Vanessa Sanchez. Curated by Sadie Woods.

You are cordially invited to attend the opening reception on Friday, February 26 from 6 - 9pm featuring performances by Lily Be, Melissa DuPrey, and Ricardo Gamboa with a guest deejay set by Soulphonetics. Exhibition runs through March 20.
