Carrie Secrist Gallery exhibits drawn below by Anne Lindberg on view from April 18 – May 30, 2015.

Composed of graphite on cotton mat board, drawn below spans 42 ½ feet and engages the entire length of our Chicago gallery. In the space between Lindberg’s site-specific installations at Contemporary Arts Center Cincinnati and The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, the gallery is thrilled to show this monumental drawing as a touchstone for a new body of work.

Anne Lindberg (b. 1962, United States) lives and works in New York. In 2015 she presents a solo exhibition at The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh. Her site-specific work is on view in Landscape abstracted at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston through 2017. Recent exhibitions include Contemporary Arts Center Cincinnati, OH; Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, GA; US Embassy, Rangoon, Burma; Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, NE; Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Overland Park, KS; and Bom Retiro Cultural Center, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Accolades include a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant (2011) and the Art Omi International Artists Residency (2009); Lindberg’s work may be found in public and private collections worldwide.

James Cordas (b. 1986, United States) lives and works in Oakland, CA. An alumnus of California College of the Arts and Yale University, his exhibition history includes Et al. Gallery and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, CA; Regina Rex and Human Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Berkeley Art Museum, CA; and South of Sunset, Los Angeles, CA. In 2015, LAND AND SEA will publish a volume of Cordas’ poetry. The untitled poem above represents his response to Lindberg’s drawn below.
