New Brunswick Art Salon
Originating in Paris in the 18th century, art salons were the most anticipated annual and biannual events, celebrating the farthest advances in academia and the arts. These salons provided artists with the opportunity to exhibit their work alongside their contemporaries while received critical as well as public response. Inspired by the Parisian Salons, Alfa Art Gallery holds Salons to showcase the talent of local artists to the New Brunswick public.
2014 will mark the 5th year of these juried exhibitions. The featured pieces will be in either watercolor or mixed media and from a variety of emerging and professional artists. Through exhibiting the work of local artists, the New Brunswick Art Salon seeks to bridge the gab between artists and their communities.
The opening reception of the New Brunswick Art Salon will follow the End of Summer Nights Dream Art Exhibition at Crossroads Theater, beginning at 8 pm and continuing until 10pm. The show’s opening reception will take place on Friday, November 14th, 2014.
