DESCRIPTION

For Re:depiction, San Francisco artist collaborative Hughen/Starkweather (Jennifer Starkweather and Amanda Hughen) interviewed several museum staff members about artworks of their choice from the Asian Art Museum’s collection and asked them to describe the work from memory. The artists then created an abstract work on paper based on the descriptions.

On the night of the event, the Hughen/Starkweather depictions will be shown in the museum alongside the original artworks described by each staff member and sound pieces excerpted from the interviews.
