The Nova Tuskhut
Dr. Russell A. Potter leads an illustrated lecture on Arctic phenomena in early Hollywood cinema including scenes from never-before seen silent films and the short-lived "Eskimo Village" on the Ocean Park Pier in Santa Monica in 1915 featuring Nancy Columbia and her family. Columbia went on to write and star in the 1911 film "The Way of the Eskimo."
The evening marks the premiere of a new Velaslavasay Exhibit, the Nova Tuskhut, an Arctic Trading Post complete with polar artifacts including the flying goggles of an Arctic Bush-Pilot . The exhibition will be on view thru 2014.
