DESCRIPTION

Mary Ryan Gallery presents Horizons, a two-person exhibition featuring the work of Michael Mazur and May Stevens made between 1994 and 2009. The exhibition opens Thursday, March 21st.

On view are seven paintings and works on paper in which Mazur and Stevens focus on water and abstraction to explore scale, color, and perspective. The title Horizons is inspired by both artists: Stevens’ configures the horizon line – or perspective where the viewer’s eye recedes – with a row of text to signify her stream of consciousness, while Mazur creates multiple horizons with cascading forms and floating shapes, influenced by Chinese landscape paintings.
