The Queens Museum of Art presents Contact Sheet by Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao. Since 2010, Taiwan-born, Queens-based photographer Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao has been in residence capturing the transformation of the New York City Building during the museum’s expansion project. Currently on exhibition is a series of contact sheets merged together and printed by Liao on photographic paper 59″ high by 309″ long. This pigment ink print is the preview for a more comprehensive exhibition documenting the transformation, New York City Building Time Lapse, 2010-2013 which opens in October, 2013, at the inauguration of the new building.
Working Proof for QMA (2010-2013) is a scroll-like work covering the curved theater wall on the museum’s second floor where 36 individual contact prints of both interior and exterior views have been combined in a meditative walk through the working process of the photographer and the construction of the building.
