An exhibition featuring paintings by Elise Freda, Kathy Goodell, Melissa Murray and Carri Skoczek

January 2013, Brooklyn, NY - Warren Lewis Realty, Sotheby’s International in collaboration with Causey Contemporary Gallery is pleased to present Nuances, a group exhibition of gallery artists. The opening reception of this salon show will take place on March 9, 2013 from 6 - 9 p.m. as part of Armory Night in Williamsburg

Nuances will feature works by Elise Freda, Kathy Goodell,  Melissa Murray and Carri Skoczek. 

Nuance means subtly of shade , texture or meaningThese four artists, the first two who work abstractly and the second two who work representationally all deal with the nuance in their work whether in the subtly of their color usage, layering of different media or in their interpretation of their individual subject matter.  

Elise Freda has been developing and exhibiting her paintings for over 30 years.  Her works have appeared in both group and solo shows throughout the Eastern United States, as well as in major publications and collections. Most recently her work appeared in The Continuing Line, a solo exhibition at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.   Kathy Goodell is a contemporary artist who works in sculptural objects, installation and drawing. For over 30 years she has exhibited her work in galleries both nationally and internationally, has been featured in several notable art books, and has taught in art institutions across the country. Causey Contemporary exhibited her work at the Overture Fair this past December in Miami, Fl.   Melissa Murray is an emerging artist based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Her surreal drawings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout the U.S. and also in Canada.Her work just appeared in Brooklyn/Montreal: 1 Dialogue, 2 Artists at Causey Contemporary’s DUMBO location.   Carri Skoczek is  a painter, printmaker, costume designer and voodoo doll maker. She has  exhibited extensively for the last 23 years in Denver, CO; Milwaukee, WI; Santa Fe, NM; Chicago, IL; New Orleans, LA; Greece, Jamaica and New York City.  This spring she will take part in an artist residency with Pat Oleska and have her work exhibited in a solo exhibition in New Orleans.  

Nuances will be on view at the Warren Lewis Williamsburg office through July 1, 2013. The public is invited to celebrate the opening of Nuances, on March 9th , 2013 from 6-9 pm at the Warren Lewis Sotheby’s International  Williamsburg office, 299 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11211.  The artists will be on hand to meet the public and discuss their work.  In addition the other Williamsburg galleries will also be open late as part of the Armory Night in Brooklyn.  This event has been made possible by a generous sponsorship from Citi Bank and  O.N.E.
