DESCRIPTION

“FLOR DE TIERRA" BY ARTIST ANDREA ARROYO

The exhibit features a selection of works from the artist’s on-going project “Flor de Tierra, Homage to the Women of Juarez.”
Each piece is a tribute to a victim of femicide. Stylized female forms are delicately rendered in white lines and speak to the presence and resilient beauty of these women. The project celebrates femininity and life while examining notions of race, gender and justice.
Ms. Arroyo is known for rendering lyrical and gracefully feminine mythical figures. Her distinctive style is inspired in part by the Pre-Columbian and Muralist art of Mexico.

Ms. Arroyo is an award-wining artist, her exhibition record includes 24 individual and over 80 group shows.   Her artwork is in numerous private and public collections, including The Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution; and the National Museum of Mexican Art, among others.  Her work has been reviewed and published extensively in the US and abroad.
