During his residency at JCAL, Diego Medina, JCAL's Fiscal Year 2008 Workspace artist, continued developing Constructions, an ongoing project that includes a series of images and large-scale wood sculptures. The project, informed by the work of architects Gaston Bachelard and Luis Barragan, explores the potential of vernacular architecture and our daily experience of urban and domestic spaces.

Diego Medina has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Queens Museum of Art and PS 122 in New York as well as Galería de Arte Contemporañeo, Museo de las Artes, Galería Nina Menocal, and a number of other venues throughout Mexico.  In the last few years, his work has been seen in group shows including the Museo San Pedro in Puebla, Mexico; El Museo del Barrio and the Mexican Cultural Institute in New York; the US Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington DC; the Freedman Gallery in Reading, Pennsylvania; and the Museo National de las Artes in Mexico City, Mexico.
