The Serial Poem 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 6

April 19 - May 20, 2012
Opens Thursday, April 19,  7pm-10pm

What's remarkable is that guided along, as we were, a chain of words into the mystery of Egan's flowery surfaces we pictured ourselves birds.

Egan Frantz(Connecticut, 1986) is a conceptual artist that received his B.A. in Art and Literature from Hampshire College in 2009 under the advisory of the late poet Robert Seydel. With his objects, drawings, and installations that often resemble those of other artists and/ of everyday objects, Frantz has from the outset positioned the craftsman, a figure who favors the working of pre-existing materials to creation ex nihilo, at the center of a structural drama. He is also the founder of _________________________, a hush-hush, New York framing company, which is to say his practice quite literally circumscribes the materials that produce contemporary art. Selected exhibitions: Essl Museum, Vienna (2012 - forthcoming), Roberts & Tilton, Los Angeles (2012 - forthcoming), Andrew Roth, New York (2011), Miguel Abreu Gallery, New York (2011), C L E A R I N G, Brooklyn (2011), e-flux, Basel (2011), Cage, New York (2011), The Emily Harvey Foundation, New York (2011) .
