Particle to Plexus
Priscilla Heine has developed a visual language that is flexible and complex, assimilating both the immediate world and an internal world that emanates from within. Drawing from both sources, her paintings are lyrical and romantic, engaging in a lush and electric poetry. Fueled by a dialogue with the present, Heine doesn't so much interpret the world around her as much as she absorbs it, bringing it to life through the use of muscular calligraphy, rich pigment, organic figuration and layers of personal metaphor.
Canny and intuitive, Heine's compositions glide across color pools and stretches of raw canvas with swashbuckling energy. As she intuits her subject matter, the artist locates meaning in the process of painting.
