Imagine drawing with pure silver, or copper, or gold. No, it is not expensive—just beautiful!
Silverpoint was the pencil that artists used before there was such a thing as a pencil. Learn the Old Master technique of Leonardo da Vinci, and join today’s contemporary artists who are exploring silverpoint to create still lifes, landscapes and portraits.
Sherry Camhy’s silverpoint images were recently featured in the Luster of Silver: Contemporary Metalpoint Drawings exhibit at the Telfair Museum (Savannah, GA). She is the author of several articles on silverpoint published in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine and LINEA.
Camhy’s work is in the collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, The Israel Museum, and the New York Public Library; and has been on exhibit at the Katonah Museum of Art, the Parrish Museum, and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Museum of Art, among others. She is the author of Art of the Pencil, and her work has been reviewed in ArtNews, TimeOut: NY, American Artist Magazine and Drawing Magazine. She studied with Robert Beverly Hale, Harvey Dinnertstein and Odd Nerdrum and did dissection at NYU Medical School. Ms. Camhy has a Masters in Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College. She has taught at NYU; the School of Visual Arts; the New York Academy of Art; Silvermine School of Art; and privately in her West Chelsea studio.
