Gesture
|
Gesture is a solo exhibition featuring the multi-layered oil paintings of Jenny E. Balisle. Inspired by patterns found in natural or manmade environments, Gesture focuses on the specific relationships between marks, lines, and textures. Balisle manipulates the oil paint by pooling, wrinkling, scraping and creating chemical reactions. Investigating these patterns results in paintings that take 2-3 years to cure.
An artist reception will be on March 3, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Balisle will discuss her inspiration, concept, and art process at an artist talk on March 13, 2011 at 3:00 pm. Gesture is on view at Hang Art through March 1- 15th, 2011.
