The Healing Sutras | Erin Endicott, solo exhibition
Anagnorisis is proud to invite you to view our next solo exhibit taking place at the White Rabbit, The Healing Sutras: the exquisite painterly embroidery of Erin Endicott. A unique breed of soft sculpture, Erin utilizes stitching and ink to paint on found objects: things that hold power because of their age and anthropomorphic wisdom. Erin's Healing Sutras tell stories of pain remembered and solace found. They indicate hope and speak of feminine patience evidenced by the painstakingly small stitches that create flowing abstract shapes.
Erin spent time in Scotland studying textile design and finished her art education in Philadelphia where she currently resides. An art teacher for many years, she recently decided to take time off to focus her attention completely to her art career.
The Healing Sutras, hand embroidery on vintage fabric stained with walnut ink, will be on view at the White Rabbit Lounge throughout the month of October along with another series of works: The Art of Dressmaking. These smaller and simpler works consist of ink and watercolor paintings on the pages of a found dressmaking book.
Anagnorisis Fine Arts is a young fine arts organization that represents and exhibits extraordinary emerging and established artists of the New Contemporary (aka Pop Surreal) genre. Each artist has a penchant for creating very lush artwork, uplifting or uncomfortable, subversive or sublime. Exhibiting mainly at the White Rabbit Lounge in New York City, Anagnorisis also works frequently with other galleries and alternative spaces to introduce new visual language to art collectors and lovers alike.
Opening reception only, Anagnorisis is proud to be showing on the White Rabbit projector, video work from artist Daniela Bertol. Her video series, Frames of Sky from Earth, is a a multimedia project on the intersections between art, astronomy and architecture: With a strong visual narrative, Frames of Sky from Earth clearly unfolds its transdisciplinary content ranging from astronomical concepts to architecture and art history, educating the viewer on a tour of the most remarkable examples of "the architecture of cosmology." "People have been looking at the sky from time immemorial: the recurrence of celestial events was recorded by signs in the landscape, from simple to elaborate monuments at architectural scale."
DJ Frankie Teardrop will join us this month to keep our ears happy.
