His figures \ n consciously suggest a process\, a fast rendering of a moment by which the raw physicality of a \n line describes both the potent ial to uncover a narrative as well as the active presence of a narrator. \ n

\n Tothís subject is an updated suburban folk lore. Each scenario is based on a story from the artistís \n year s growing up in a small New England town. He focuses on the type of tales t hat those who grew up \n in suburban America tell and retell eith er to establish shared experience or buoy individual origins. Yet \n these stories\, which invariably invoke degrees of violence (from innoc ent to absurd to deadly)\, address \n larger issues. Like all myt hs they serve to soothe the uncertainties of those who tell and those who l isten. \n Tothís paintings aim to describe the narration from bot h points of view. \n
