for her second solo show at the ga llery\, mia taylor will present a new body of work that explores her ongoin g concern with spatial representation.

\n

ta ylor has employed mass-produced architectural\, electronic and design-based drawing templates in her practice\, as she is interested in how they syste matically describe actions\, objects or space in 2-D form. for this exhibit ion\, she has composed her own original templates\, which are a hybrid of t hose used in her 'auxiliary operation' series of works on paper.  with thes e\, taylor constructs painterly and sculptural forms.

\n

shapes shift and repeat on the surface of wood\, in layers of canvas and as pieces of perspex. combining hand craft with hi-tech\, taylo r's process both dilutes and undermines the original function of the templa te.
