Each year\, BRIC presents an exhibition of promising\, emerg ing artists selected exclusively from our online Contemporary Artist Regist ry\, the oldest and largest registry of Brooklyn’s visual artists. This\, t he fifth edition of the Registry show\, will focus on artists pursing a wid e array of three-dimensional formats\, and whose work acts to transform and activate the physical space around them. By affecting the surrounding envi ronment\, these works impact the viewer’s understanding of the space and th e object itself\, making the sense of scale and gravity compressed\, expand ed\, or dissolved. Guest curator Jamie Sterns also calls attention to the f act that sculpture is a form of art that requires direct\, first-hand expos ure\; its dimensionality makes it not fully translatable in the digital age .
