Nicholas James  studied Painting at the Slade School of Art, UCL (BA) and History of Art (MA) at Kingston University. Since then he worked as a house writer for the Dictionary of Art (Macmillan) contributing over eighty entries. With Anna Douglas he co-authored ‘Artists Stories' (A-n Publications). With Sarah Batiste he published and edited Cv Journal of Art & Crafts 1988-91, forming Cv Publications in 1992 and Cv/Visual Arts Research in 1995.
