People say galleries get slow in the summer in New York, but there is nothing lacklustre or mundane about the group exhibition at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Curated by collector and graffiti historian Roger Gastman, the exhibition’s title is derived from the popular song featured in the original Karate Kid film by Bananarama. The music video portrays the three female band members causing trouble and dancing throughout New York City – including a Dukes of Hazard-esque car chase that involves... [more]

Violent As F***: Cleon Peterson   Pick-button-f22fa879042524f5c7b8d2278b2983b8

The relatively small amount of represented work secures my feelings about how good he really is as I can't remember much from the rest of the show. I wish they'd collect his miniature houses and make an entire neighborhood of... [more]

You may remember when the Gap on Haight and Ashbury closed and for a few weeks a giant yellow "Amaze" graffiti throw-up graced the windows of the building--now that storefront hosts the RVCA clothing store with the VASF gallery in their back room. The current exhibition at the VASF is curated by Marsea Goldberg of New Image Art in Los Angeles, and brings together a wide variety of New Image artists from LA, New York and San Francisco. The thread of curation is difficult to find in this... [more]
